Dr. Finkler received both his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology in 1976 followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1980 from The Ohio State University. In 1983 he became the owner of Roanoke Animal Hospital and grew the practice into the reputable, thriving, multi-doctor veterinary hospital it is today.

In his over 37 years of practicing, Dr. Finkler has received numerous awards and accolades including Virginia Veterinarian of the Year Award in 2017. He is currently the Veterinary Advisor and Charter Board Member of Saint Francis Service Dog Foundation and previously held the office of President. From 2013-2014 he was the President of the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association. He has been both a Guest Lecturer and Adjunct Professor for the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine since 2001.

Dr. Finkler and his wife Beth enjoy life in the Roanoke Valley but they also love to vacation with their family. In his spare time, Dr. Finkler enjoys gardening, motorcycling, and old cars.
