Our Doctors
Dr. Thomas Blaszak, DVM
Practice Owner & Veterinarian
As a Blacksburg High School graduate, Dr. Blaszak didn’t travel far to become a 1st generation Hokie, attending Virginia Tech, where he played Baseball and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2005.
He immediately went on from his undergraduate degree to Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated in 2009 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, he completed a small animal internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. In 2011, Dr. Blaszak joined Roanoke Animal Hospital and in July of 2020 became the practice owner.
Dr. Hannah Hart
DVM
Dr. Hart joined Roanoke Animal Hospital in 2016 after receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from King College in Bristol, TN in 2012, where she spent her four years playing on the Women’s Soccer team.
Dr. Hart enjoys spending time with her husband, Andrew, and their three children. They love vacationing at the beach and camping trips with friends and family, hiking with their dog Sammi, and any competitive sports.
Dr. Colette Spillane
DVM
Dr. Colette Spillane is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and attended Virginia Tech to receive her B.S. in Animal and Poultry Science and Biological Sciences. She continued her education in Blacksburg at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine where she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2018. Upon graduation, she began her career as an emergency veterinarian in Pittsburgh.
One of her favorite things as a child was traveling to Ireland every summer to visit her grandmother and spend time on the family farm. It was there she discovered her love for animals, her compassion towards them, and the bond that humans have with our beloved pets.
Dr. Rachel Carey
DVM
Dr. Carey was born and raised in Charleston, WV. She earned her undergraduate degree at Concord University and then graduated from the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. After graduation, she started her career as a general practice veterinarian working in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and recently worked as an urgent care veterinarian. She has 4 cats – Dale and Brennan (named after the movie Step Brothers), Margo, and Maeve (her Devon Rex). In her free time she enjoys spending time with her fur babies, cooking, gardening, and DIY projects.
